Resumen:
Two new aflatoxin type B and G producing species from Aspergillus section Flavi from differentAspergillus section Flavi from different 4 species of Arachis (peanuts) in Argentina are described as Aspergillus arachidicola and Aspergillusspecies of Arachis (peanuts) in Argentina are described as Aspergillus arachidicola and Aspergillus 5 minisclerotium. A. minisclerotium resembles Aspergillus flavus in producing aflatoxin B1 and B2,minisclerotium. A. minisclerotium resembles Aspergillus flavus in producing aflatoxin B1 and B2, 6 cyclopiazonic acid, kojic acid and aspergillic acid, but in addition it produces aflatoxin G1 and G2,cyclopiazonic acid, kojic acid and aspergillic acid, but in addition it produces aflatoxin G1 and G2, 7 aflavarin, aflatrem, aflavinines, parasiticolide and paspaline. A. arachidicola produces aflatoxin B1,aflavarin, aflatrem, aflavinines, parasiticolide and paspaline. A. arachidicola produces aflatoxin B1, 8 B2, G1, G2, kojic acid, parasiticolide and some strains produce aspergillic acid. Furthermore a strain ofB2, G1, G2, kojic acid, parasiticolide and some strains produce aspergillic acid. Furthermore a strain of 9 A. caelatus, a species previously thought not to be able to produce aflatoxins, was found to be anA. caelatus, a species previously thought not to be able to produce aflatoxins, was found to be an 10 efficient producer of type B and G aflatoxins.efficient producer of type B and G aflatoxins. 11 12 The type strain of A. arachidicola is CBS 117610T = IBT 25020T and of A. minisclerotium CBSThe type strain of A. arachidicola is CBS 117610T = IBT 25020T and of A. minisclerotium CBS 13 117635T = IBT 25032T.
