Resumen:
The colonization of the Central Nervous System  by Candida albicans or other candida species,  is a few frecuent fact but  with a high risk  for the host. The morbidity and mortality  associated with these  mycosis and the  absence of successfull treatment,  make a darkness issue for this disease. Other factors that  make more complex this scenary   are the  charasteristic of this opportunistyc fungus and the  particulary  biological niche. In the present article we revised  several important aspects about  the etiological agent  and the strategies of  agression/ evassion  involved during the host-fungal interaction. Also we reffer to  the  particulary place considered  as an “immune privileged site”, the network of  cells  and mediators involved in this phenomenon  and  its impact in the evolution of the infection. The current challenged issued of CNS candidiasis  are  the diagnosis, the development of  successful treatment and prommotion of new strategies and all these facts call interdisciplinary interactions  between investigators of different areas.
