Resumen:
We follow a classic metabolic engineering approach for the reconstruction of biosynthetic pathways in heterologous microorganisms, with the objective of an efficient production of oleochemicals, particularly here: TAGs.The final aim is to use inexpensive renewable resources as feedstocks. Oleochemicals are a wide range of compoundsincluding oils, waxes, free fatty acids (FFA), fatty alcohols, and bioplastics, which are used as surfactants, lubricants, and materials in many consumerproducts. Conversion of biomass-derived sugars to these compounds isattractive because the ability of microbial catalysts to control product chain length, add precise modifications, and the use non-plant oilsas feedstocks.
