Resumen:
The geology of northwestern Argentina (NOA) offers industrial minerals and rocks that could be used in the manufacturing industry of several glass varieties, among which are the containers used by the agro-food industry. The development and expansion of this industry at regional level, with specific demands, generates positive expectations and an interesting market niche for feasibility studies of manufacturing glass containers in the NOA. The gap between the growing demand for packaging, competitiveness, quality standards, and transport distances of glass pieces to bottlers, raises the need for a scientific and technological characterization of mineral raw materials as inputs for installation this type of industry. The facilities offered by industrial parks in the Salta province increase the potential of socio-economic development linked to this industry.
