Resumen:
The social and economic impact of the NTDs has been recognizedby the WHO and different governments around theworld. That has ended up with the WHO 2020 Roadmap forNTD and the London declaration. Those documents haveestablished the basis for the global efforts to build new capabilitiesto develop new solutions to combat those diseases.Generally, the capacity on endemic developing countriesto develop solutions is challenging based on the lack ofinfrastructure and trained personnel with experience to deliveredregionally adequate solution. Looking to contributefrom a new global networking scheme of work, ?The globalNetwork for Neglected Tropical Diseases? was been constituted, the network is based in Durham, UK with partnershipwith different laboratories from India, Pakistan, Brazil, Uruguayand Argentina. The network is looking to expand theeffort on NTD research, to deliver a new generation of highlyskilled interdisciplinary world-wide scientists, deliver worldleading research and enrich the academic community participatingin global research programs. Presently the consortiumis constituted by researchers from Durham Universityand University of York from UK. An Asian hub with scientistfrom the University of Karachi from Pakistan and CSIR-IndianInstitute of Chemical Biology (IICB, Kolkata), CSIR-IndianInstitute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH, Chadingrh) andCSIR-Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI, Lucknow) fromIndia. The South American hub included teams from theUnivesidade de São Paulo, Universidade Federal do Rio doJaneiro, Universidade Federal do Minas Gerais and UniversidadeEstadual de Campinhas from Brazil, Institut Pasteurde Montevideo from Uruguay and from our country PIs fromthe Universidad Nacional de Rosario and CONICET. Over thispresentation all the projects and activities of the network willbe summarized, giving special emphasis of those developedin the Argentinean branch. The Argentinean partners of thenetwork are developing collaborative projects with differentconsortium partners to identify and characterize new targets, repurposing drugs as antiparasitic agents and preparing newcollection of compounds to find new chemical structures fordrug development. https://ntd-network.org/
