Reinforcement effects upon interspecific communication in domestic dogs. What do we know so far?

In this talk I will discuss the evidences concerning the effects of associative learning on the development of interspecific communicative responses in domestic dogs. Specifically, the effects of acquisition, extinction and omission as well as cues competition on communication will be analyzed. Additionally, I will present results comparing shelter and pet dogs, and also different canid species, in several communicative tasks in order to assess the importance of domestication and experiences during ontogeny.
