Resumen:
Abstract: Several days after spraying pesticides and before harvesting, the amount of residue may be in very low concentrations but still hazardous to the health. Here we report the applicability of ultraviolet matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time of flight mass spectrometry for detection of pesticide residues on tomato fruit. Fruits were sprayed with the mixture of four commercial pesticides with recommended concentration and picked up one week later. Outer pericarp of fruit was peeled out and located on MALDI plate, air-dried and covered with carbon nanotubes and 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid matrixes. Pesticide related signals were detected after irradiating UV laser and verified.  Keywords: carbon nanotubes, dihydroxybenzoic acid, food safety, in situ pesticide detection, surface analysis
