Resumen:
A two-dimensional turbulent model of a low-current intensity (30 A) cuttingplasma torch was developed using the local thermodynamic equilibrium approximation.A good agreement was found between measured and modelled results of plasmatemperature and velocity, the latter of which has not been previously reported in theliterature for high energy density torches. The cutting performance was also studied interms of the heat flux to the work-piece and the value of the force exerted by theimpinging plasma jet.
