Resumen:
Gender gap is a worldwide problem throughout academia. In a recent global survey it was shown that Argentina?s participation of both men and women is equal among researchers. However, the gender gap in Argentina is not closed. In the last five years, a strong feminist movement has grown in the country, starting with a campaign against femicides. This movement has spread to different layers of society, questioning gender issues in work and personal life, and academia is not an exception. Symbolic violence, gender roles and the social matrix of violence need to be carefully studied to understand where we stand today. Here we show data of the Argentinean current gender situation in science. We discuss a series of proposals for reducing it, from long-term affirmative actions for research councils and universities, to short-term actions to start changing the situation from our home institutions.
