Resumen:
Eisosomes are protein and lipids nanodomains assembled onto the Plasma Membrane (PM) with sizes about 300nm long and 50nm wide. These structures are distributed as elongated invaginations all over the Saccharomyces cerevisiae (SC) PM. Some roles played by theses nanodomains in the cellular physiology are known, however, the mechanisms leading to their formation and maintenance is not completely comprehended. Unpublished results hint that eisosomes are factors associated with the cell?s replicative lifespan. Considering this, we decided to build microfluidic devices in order to study individual cells throughout their lifespan. Microfluidic devices fabricated at CNEA feature L-shape structures capable of trapping SC cells. We succeeded to create conditions in which SC cells grow inside the device and we are currently troubleshooting different limitations such as nonspecific trapping, loading efficiency and mother-daughter cells separation.
