Resumen:
The study of the Sun is of interest for both practical and fundamental reasons. It is the ultimate driver of space weather conditions, whose accurate prediction relies on advancing our understanding of solar dynamics. It provides a solid base of knowledge on which other types of stars can be modeled, hence it is of central interest to stellar astrophysics. Solar tomography is currently the only observational technique capable of providing an empirical three-dimensional description of the solar corona at a global scale. As such, it is of relevance to the aforementioned topics. In this short article we summarize the methodology and the diagnostics it provides, review examples of results, and discuss future projects.
