Resumen:
Results are presented of recent work exploring methods that can be used to estimate uncertainties on atomic rate coefficients, for use in astrophysical diagnostics and modeling. These methods include more approximate approaches to determine an initial range for the uncertainties and their effects on spectral line intensities, and advanced methods aimed at determining a more precise uncertainty on a particular set of theoretical calculations. We use the R-matrix method to calculate electron-impact excitation data, as an illustration of the uncertainty estimates with associated correlation information. A number of line ratio examples are presented to highlight the effects that correlated uncertainties would introduce.
