Resumen:
In this work, we use a discrete time version of viability theory in order to investigate the existence of sustainable cancer therapies. We begin by assuming that an heterogeneous tumor under therapy grows according to a discrete model and we next present the main points of Viability theory. After this, we apply the Bellman equation in the context of the viability theory for calculating the viability kernel in the framework of a particular example, viability kernels which are not empty. Also we prove that there is at least a therapy, which goal is to enforce a stable tumor burden by permitting a significant population of chemosensitive cells to survive so that they, in turn, suppress proliferation of the less fit but chemoresistant subpopulations. Both numerical results, conclusions and future work are presented.
