This paper presents a practical proposal for the planning and programming of production in a metalworking company. The company has drawbacks related to the decision-making regarding its production plans linked to a family of products. A solution is proposed for the solution of the critical processes: Analysis of sales, Planning and Programming of the production. Methods such as Winters and Holt for forecasting, mixed and linear mathematical models for the planning and heuristic rules for programming work orders were used for it. The development allows the generation of alternative scenarios based on possible future changes of internal or external aspects to the company. It facilitates the visualization of the impacts of these alternative futures and a more efficient decision-making by the responsible. As an example, here are some of these scenarios and the variants in the solution according to the case.
