Resumen:
We characterized all the irreducible spherical functions of the pair (SU(n+1),S(U(n)xU(1)), This functions are given in terms of the matrix hypergeometric function. Moreover, for a fixed K-type they are appropriately packaged into a sequence of matrix valued orthogonal polynomials.
