Resumen:
During a taxonomic revision of Phylloporia (Fungi, Basidiomycota) species, some collections from Southern Brazil, which were previously determined as Phylloporia chrysita and Phylloporia spathulata, presented marked morphological discrepancies when compared to the original descriptions and the type specimens of those taxa. Thus, detailed morphological and molecular phylogenetic analyses based on LSU rDNA region strongly indicated that they were, in fact, undescribed species. Therefore, Phylloporia clariceae Ad int., P. elegans Ad int. and P. nodostipitata Ad int. were then proposed for these taxa (Ferreira-Lopes, 2013). Since there are no barcodes (standardized fungal nrITS sequences) of the genus Phylloporia deposited in either INSDC - International Nucleotide Sequences Database Collaboration (NCBI, ENA and DDDJ) or BOLD - Barcode of Life Datasystems, our group carried out a DNA barcode study with all the available specimens of these two putative new species as well as with other specimens of distinct species of this genus from other collections.
