Resumen:
Nannochloropsis oceanica CCALA 978 is a promising native species for biodiesel and other value-added bioproducts. However, no models have been developed to predict lipid production in this microalga allowing production process improvement yet. A dynamic mathematical model was formulated for the optimization problem from different batch culture variables. Nitrogen and phosphorus limitation conditions of this strain were considered. The resulting optimization problem was formulated and based on orthogonal collocation methods as special class of implicit Runge-Kutta methods. The following nonlinear programming (NLP) problem was solved with an Interior Point method using AMPL (A Mathematical Programming Language) platform. Numerical results provide temporal profiles in good agreement with experimental data.
