Resumen:
In this study, the photoorientation induced via irradiation with linearly polarized light is compared for various cross-linked epoxy-based azopolymers, with the chromophore placed in a branch, also called cross-linked side-chain. Polymer networks were formed by step-growth and epoxy homopolymerization mecha-nisms. Two different push-pull azo chromophores were used: Disperse Red 13 (DR13) and Disperse Orange 3 (DO3). Azo prepolymers (TAZDR13 and TAZDO3) were synthesized by: a) an etherification reaction of phenylglycidilether and DR13, using a tertiary amine as initiator; and b) an epoxy-amine reaction between DO3 and diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA), using an excess of epoxy groups. The resulting TAZDO3 was blended in different proportions with DGEBA and various amines: two poly(oxypropylene)-diamines (Jeffamine D230 and D400), and m-xylilendiamine (MXDA). On the other hand, different proportions of TAZDR13 were incorporated into networks by reaction with DGEBA by epoxy homopolymerization using different tertiary amines as initiators.
