Resumen:
A concern problem is the water pollution, one of the most toxic contaminants is the oil in water bodies. A strategy to treat these residues is the development of materials with amphilicity ?on demand? and the possibility of been remote extracted and recovery from the water. Diepoxy terminated?polydimethylsiloxane (diep-PDMS) sponges were obtained by infusion of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) in polymer networks. Firstly, the monomer was homopolymerized using a tertiary amine as initiator to obtain materials with low hidrophilicity. In order to generate amphiphilic materials a second strategy was carried out, diep-PDMS was copolymerized with polyetherdiamines (Jeffamine ED and Jeffamine D2000). All the systems were cured at 120°C in a sugar-template to obtain polymeric sponges with macroporosity. The fabrication process of the PDMS sponge does not require any complex synthesis processes or equipment. Oleic-acid coated MNPs were obtained by a coprecipitation method followed by a functionalization step. Samples of the obtained materials were immersed in the colloidal dispersion of MNPs and after equilibration, dried to obtain porous magnetic nanocomposites. Swelling ability of the gels was determined (with and without MNPs) in aqueous and organic systems (ethanol, acetone, chloroform and toluene). Moreover magnetic and mechanical properties were evaluated for potential uses as water contaminant absorbers.
