Resumen:
A seemingly obvious protection of ADI from the embrittlement caused by the environment, in particular by the contact with liquids, would be obtained after the surface of ADI is isolated from the environment. This article examines the efficiency of the use of several paints and coatings. The results show that protective layers crack early during stressing above the yield point of ADI, allowing the contact of water with ADI surface. This causes embrittlement. All surface coating methods tested failed to produce significant reductions in the extent of embrittlement.
