Resumen:
Two wet proofed CuO/Al2O3 catalysts (CTa and CTb) with different PTFE layer width were prepared, characterized and tested in long term runs for the CWAO of phenol at 140°C and 7 atm of oxygen in a laboratory Trickle Bed Reactor (TBR). Results are compared with those obtained with a conventional laboratory-made CuO/Al2O3 catalyst. A preliminary model at the particle scale that accounts for the various mass transport-reaction steps involved in a catalyst particle coated with PTFE is proposed to analyze the effect of the hydrophobic layer width.
