The aim of this work was to obtain, characterize and apply ferrogels in adsorption and controlled release of proteins. For this purpose, ferrogels composed of PVA and magnetite (iron oxide: Fe3O4) NPs of different characteristics and sizes were synthesized by two different routes: by ?in-situ? precipitation of iron oxides and by adding NPs coated by chitosan. The obtained biomaterials were tested for the adsorption of bovine serum albumin (BSA), which was selected as model protein.
