Resumen:
A new approach is presented which couples the direct Boundary Element Method (BEM) and a ray model. Two alternative coupling procedures are developed, one is using a singular indirect BEM and the other is based on the Method of Fundamental Solutions (MFS). The direct Boundary Element algorithm is applied to determine the sound pressure at interface points. Then, a singular indirect Boundary Element formulation or Method of Fundamental Solutions is used to find intensities of point sources on the same interface which produce the previously determined sound pressure. Finally, these sound intensities are the input data for the ray tracing procedure. Such a hybrid method is best suited and applied here to the study of outdoor sound propagation problems.
