Resumen:
Different motmorillonites (MMT) were added to poly(vinylalcohol) (PVA) in order toimprove their properties.. PVA+MMT films, obtained by casting, were characterized bymeans of FTIR, DSC, TGA, DRX, TEM, water absorption, contact angle andmechanical properties. Sodium and organically modified MMTs were used. The MMTbasal peak shifted to a lower angle for composite with sodium MMTs, and the film wereexfoliated-intercalated nanocomposites. Composite with organically modified MMTpresented a micro morphology. The best mechanical properties were obtained for thesodium MMTs and the composite with MMT 30B presented the lowest waterabsorption.
