Resumen:
In the Chagas disease vector Triatoma infestans, three insecticide resistance mechanisms are involved; i.e. enzyme detoxification, target site point mutations and a cuticular penetration factor. In the genome of the related triatomine Rhodnius prolixus, a high expansion of cytochrome P450 subfamilies (CYP3093A and CYP4EM) was reported (1,2). Here, we describe new members of these subfamilies in the integument of T. infestans and analize the differential expression of these genes in resistant compared to susceptible specimens. Also, we modeled the docking of deltamethrin to the active site of all members of these subfamilies for both insect subfamilies. Finally, we knocked-down the two most highly expressed genes in resistant nymphs in order to find clues on their potential participation in deltamethrin resistance.
