Resumen:
The variability imposed by the autonomic nervous system (ANS) on cardiacactivity is of recognized importance to maintain the homeostatic balance of the heart against external and internal stimuli. This feature is not included in pacemakers and other cardiac devices, partially due to the lack of information about the relationships between the various cardiac intervals. Instead, stimulation algorithms are established with fixed or weakly variableintervals. In two and three-chamber devices, the duration of the AV interval is controlled and tracking schemes are used for avoiding desynchronizations (a risk factor for the development of arrhythmias, ventricular remodeling, etc.) In this work we study time series of various cardiac intervals in healthy subjects. We establish the correlations between them and discuss the relationship between these results and new pacemaker algorithms.
