Resumen:
The Los Molles Formation in the Centenario area is located over the Huincul arch in the southeastern margin of the Neuquén basin. Due to its marginal location and the strong tectonic influence associated with the evolution of this large-scale morph-structural element during the initial stages of its accumulation, it has been interpreted as the record of alluvial fans and sediment-laden fluvial systems. Through the integration of the entire available core data in the area combined with microresistivity images and well logs, a new palaeoenviromental model is proposed for the Los Molles Formation in this area. This unit might have evolved from a shallow marine system (for which offshore and shorefacefacies are recorded) with local coarse-grained input, up into a coarse-grained deltaic system (braid delta) with record of delta front and delta plain facies associations. Based on this new interpretation the main reservoirs of the Los Molles formation were analyzed, integrating 3D seismic data, boreholeimages, well-to-well correlations and petrophysical properties in order to identify potential zones for development of the tight-gas targets in the area.
