Resumen:
The vanadyl(IV) complex [VO(oda)(H2O)2] (oda: oxodiacetate, O(CH2COO-)2) displayed antiapoptotic properties in some syustems. Herein, we report its bioactivity in two osteoblast cell lines (MC3T3E1 and UMR106). Cell proliferation was inhibited in both cell lines. Alkaline phosphatase specific activity and collagen production, two osteoblast differentiation markers, were also inhibited in UMR106 osteoblasts. Moreover, the complex caused morphological transformations and cytoskeleton reorganization of actin fibers. In UMR106 cells it generated oxidative stress and also enhances ERK phosphorilation in a concentration dependent manner.
