Descripción:
The aerosol content of the atmosphere is an important variable for different applications (air quality, biology, solar radiation atenuation, etc). The aerosol optical depth (AOD) is a quantity that characterizes the attenuation produced by the suspended particulate matter. There is a large amount of satellite data for most areas of the Earth and for different periods. This Technical Note presents an inter-comparison between AOD ground data obtained at Pampa Amarilla, in the placement of the Astroparticle Pierre Auger Observatory (Malargüe, Province of Mendoza, Argentina) with a Raman Lidar, with satellite data from different instruments: MODIS on board of Aqua and Terra, OMI on board of Aura and MISR on board of Terra. The mean of the Lidar AOD data in the September 2013 - February 2016 period of value: 0.098±0.045 has the best agreement with the mean AOD MISR data of value: 0.138±0.104. We also made a detailed analysis of the time behavior and of the differences between both series of data.
