Resumen:
Lead-iron niobate Pb(Fe,Nb)O3,or PFN, has been widely studied as a single phase  multiferroicmagnetoelectric in ceramics, single crystals, and thin film forms. However, there are very few works on PFN films deposited by sol-gel. In this work, PFN thin films were fabricated by amodified sol-gel route based on the use of acetoin (3-Hydroxy2-butanone) as chelating agent. This route offers the advantage of asimple and rapid solution synthesis, and it was also appropriate forthe synthesis of (1-x)PZT-xPFN perovskite films in differentcompositions [1]. The PFN precursor solution was deposited ontoplatinized silicon substrates Pt/Ti/SiO2/Siby spin coating. Rapid thermal annealing (RTA) was applied as thermaltreatment at 650 °C and 700 °C.Structural characterization by DRX showed acoexistence of perovskite and pyrochlore phases. Dielectriccharacterization was performed as a function of frequency, obtainingrelative permittivity values of ~1000 at 1kHz. Low dielectric losses(~0.04) were measured for the whole range of applied frequencies.Ferroelectric properties were tested at 50Hz and 1kHz. Finally, magnetic measurements were performed, showing a weak ferromagneticbehavior of the films.[1] L. Imhoff, S. Barolin, N.
