The fatigue damage and first stage of microcrack propagation in fatigue of a duplex stainless steel are studied using in-situ observations coupled with a crystalline orientation analysis by EBSD and MEB observations after the test. The slip systems activated are identified and the propagation conditions of both plastic activation and microcrack propagation are analysed.
