Resumen:
Purpose of the study: One of the professions in which persons spend more time outdoor is the fishing made by individual fishermen. The present work analyze the extreme situation of fishermen that receive one the highest doses of erythemal (and consequently carcinogenic) solar radiation in the world, working in the Pacific coast of Ecuador. These persons start to work rather young and spent a large amount of time exposed to the Sun during the period they are fishing.  This study provides important results for the design of education and prevention campaigns devoted to protect fishermen of the negative consequences of large periods under the intense Sun  of the equatorial pacific region.
