Resumen:
Fe-Mn-Si based Shape Memory Alloys (SMA) subject to plastic
deformation show complex phenomena regarding phase transformation volume fraction, texture components, variant composition
and microstructure. Taking advantage of the in-situ capabilities and high penetration of
synchrotron radiation we have tested FeMnSi SMA to inspect phase transformation
characteristic, main texture components and microstructure development.
Tensile tests
performed on site on GEMS line at Petra III, DESY, Germany, were analyzed by
MAUD software, allowing the determination of textures, phase volume fraction
and microstructure evolution. On loading a complete set of image plates were
taken every 5o to characterize whole orientation dependent
variables. After unloading a single shot was taken to follow main unloading
effects.
Ex-situ we proceeded
with EBSD characterization to compare both techniques and in search of
topological and micro-textural data unavailable by x-rays.
