Resumen:
New grade duplex stainless steel (DSS), called Lean DSS (LDSS), with lower costalloying elements has found increasing applications in many industries. Some researchers have studied short crack nucleation in standard DSS subject to fatigue. However, there is scarce information relating to dislocation structure and short crack nucleation on LDSS. Considering that many applications of LDSS involve cyclic loading, the aim of this paper is to study short crack initiation and growth during low and high cycle fatigue in AL 2003 (UNS S32003). The slip systems and their associated Schmid factor along the microcrack path have been analyzed by electron backscattered diffraction measurements. In addition, the dislocation structure developed during cycling has been analyzed by TEM. Finally, both techniques have been correlated and used to study the surface damage
