Resumen:
In this work we propose an alternative direct method to obtain geoid undulations in short wavelengths (200 – 500km). Employing vertical rods to represent an irregular body, we calculate its perturbing potential through a double numerical integration, to finally define geoid undulations using Bruns’ formulae. The advantages of this method over the classical decomposition of the body into right rectangular parallelepipeds are the possibility to obtain a more detailed representation of the body and the significant improvement in computing time. In some cases, computing speed was incremented up to 24 times. We present a preliminary algorithm to solve the problem of computing geoid undulations due to unknown bodies of known gravity attraction. We define the body through a set of vertical rods using the observed gravity anomalies as input data, to directly determine geoid undulations produced by the structure found. Many examples confirm the efficiency of the method.
