Resumen:
The aim of this study is to analyze the
short fatigue crack behavior of different duplex stainless steel (DSS) grades
under two thermal conditions: as-received and embrittled (100 h at 475oC).
A detailed review on the state of art of this theme has been carried out.
The chapter is divided into five sections.
The first section or introduction outlines the theoretical background necessary
for the present investigation. In the second section an overall description of
the principal experimental techniques employed is highlighted. In the third
section the results reported from different researchers are summarized and
discussed. This third section is divided in two subsections: low cycle fatigue
(LCF) and high cycle fatigue (HCF), due to the different physical mechanisms
involved in each case to produce failure. In the fourth section a model to
reproduce the propagation of microstructural fatigue cracks in DSS is adapted.
In the last section the concluding remarks and scope for further research in
this area of investigation are presented.
