With the objective of verifying the feasibility of using ozone to reduce the organic load of the effluent, laboratory experiments were carried out. Although the suggestion of the company was to use a continuous reactor, it was considered, for this first stage of chemical feasibility, to use a batch system with recirculation, in order to avoid the development and incorporation of a gas saturation system to be used in continuous flow. To perform this, we adapted the available laboratory equipment, which have proven reliability to provide stable ozone concentrations, and already used in similar studies with industrial effluents, and then extrapolating the results to the conditions of a continuous flow reactor under the suggested reaction conditions (residence times and doses)
