Resumen:
Eye drops although extensively used for eye treatment (e.g. ocular reepithelization) are associated with short precorneal residence time and limited permeation. To overcome these issues, ocular inserts1 had been developed as an alternative to the traditional treatments. Nowadays, when an eye get damage, by an accident or burn, it is necessary to go through a surgery. During the assistance, it is transplanted an amniotic membrane2 around the eye. The membrane contains growth factors (proteins) to assist in recovery. However, in addition to the high cost, the patients need to undergo additional surgery to remove the membranes after a month. In the present work, we are considering hydrogels3 as a promising material that can be used as ocular inserts. The main objective is focused on a deep study about the influence that Eudragit (a widely polymer used in pharmacy) express in hydrogels formulations.
