Resumen:
Arsenic is an element widely distributed in nature which is present in 5x10-4 % of the earth?s crust and it is principally transported in the environment by water. The pollution in water is due to natural occurrence or to anthropogenic activities.  Exposure to arsenic can result in a variety of health problems in human, including various forms of cancer. Due to the high toxicity of the metalloid it is that The World Health Organization (WHO) has set a guideline of 10m/L as the drinking water standard. In groundwater, inorganic arsenic forms arsenate (V) and arsenite (III) are the most abundant. Arsenite form has more mobility, so it is more difficult to remove using traditional physical and chemical processes as adsorption, coagulation/precipitation or ion-exchange. In this work the effects of hydrogen peroxide initial concentration and irradiation rate in the oxidation of As (III) in water were studied.
