Resumen:
A network-based continuous-time representation for the short-term scheduling of multipurpose batch plants was recently presented by the authors of this paper. This highly expressive proposal allows addressing a wide variety of problems by overcoming several limitations of existing approaches. Nevertheless, the expressiveness of the representation is gained at the expense of its computational performance. To tackle this last issue, this contribution presents an enhanced mathematical formulation that leads to significant CPU time reductions in reaching optimal solutions.
