Resumen:
Integration of modern power generation sources along with traditional sources arouses interest at the global level, along with influence of the increasing adoption of natural gas-fired plants. This paper proposes an integrated electric power and natural gas system Mixed Integer Linear Programming model, which applies linearization techniques in order to represent both systems more realistically with a considerable reduction of computational effort. It considers effects which have not often been properly taken into account before such as hydraulic head, security constraints, water pumping, and gas effects. The Argentine Electric Power and Natural Gas Systems are selected as the test case to verify the performance of the proposed model. The power system has an installed capacity of 38 GW and 500/220 kV transmission lines with a total length of over 11,000 km. Besides, natural gas system has a injection of 120 MMm³/d and more than 12,000 km of high pressure pipelines.
