Resumen:
Using 12CO (J=1-0) observations obtained with NANTEN radiotelescope (HPBW=2.´7) and Halpha line emission data obtained from SuperCOSMOS survey, the interstellar medium in the HII region RCW 78 around the star WR 55 was analysed. Three molecular components  were detected.     The molecular component observed between -58 and -46 km/seg have a remarkable morphological resemblance with the nebula, though most of the molecular gas between -58 and -56 is very likely associated with a star forming region projected near RCW 78. The rest of the molecular gas between -56 and -46 km/s seems to be interacting with WR 55.   The molecular components between -39 to -35 km/s and between -33 to -28 km/seg are not related with RCW 78.
