Resumen:
Pure and cerium doped (0.05, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5 and 1.0 at. %) TiO2 were synthesized by sol?gel method.The obtained catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV?Visible diffusedreflectance spectroscopy (DRS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), BET surface areameasurement and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The photo-catalytic activity of synthesizedsamples was investigated for the oxidative degradation of phenol in aqueous suspension. Wefound that the efficiency of phenol degradation decreased with the increment of Ce in thecatalyst. Relations between physical and optical characteristics and performance were discussed.
