Resumen:
Abstract? Background and Objectives: In recent years, the finding of a potentially lethal side effect, known asTorsades de Pointes, in a wide range of medications led tothe development of viability benchmarks that aid in thedecision making on drug cardiotoxicity. Unfortunately, current technics are not enough efficient and many safedrugs are withdrawn while many proarrhythmic drugsare realeased. Methods: Herein, a Sotalol challenge with34 patients with and without history of Torsades dePointes is carried out to evaluate differential dynamicfeatures obtained by a quaternion method. We proposeseveral dispersion cardiomarkers using a spatial ap-proach in order to detect abnormal drug-induced changesof heterogeneity. Results: New cardiomarkers not onlyachieves a higher significance level than current indices, about two order of magnitude, but also they can detectsotalol-induced changes that only affect at-risk patients. Conclusions: This novel technique of ECG processingcomplement current studies of drug cardiotoxicity. Giventhe high significance levels of our cardiomarkers, aprofundization of this research line will undoubtedly beable to contribute to the development of safe medicationtherapies.
