Resumen:
Arsenic trioxide (ATO) increases IL-1 secretion in HaCaT cells thatcan be reduced by drug-induced mitophagy. Here we explore if anaqueous extract of the plant S. campestris (SME) induces mitophagyand reverts ATO-induced IL-1 production in HaCaT cells.Methods. Mitochondrial mass (MM) was evaluated with the probeNAO through flow cytometry. Mitochondrial morphology and mitophagywere assessed with Hoescht, lysotracker, NAO, expressionof Emerald Green-p62, and a mitochondria-targeted tandem EGFP-RFP protein (mitoTandem), through multilayer fluorescent imagecytometry. IL-1 levels were determined through ELISA.Results. SME (0.1-10μM) decreased MM. ATO-treated cells showeddecreased IL-1 production when co-treated with SME (p
