Las playas y el orden urbano

In thistext I am interested in thinking beaches as complex, public, and politicizedspaces. The chapter will develop two cases: ambulant vending, and the conflictsbetween beach users during the summer season. Starting from the first case, Iam interested in showing the beach as a space of work both for established andpermanent residents and for thousands of people who also go to "doseason" on the beaches as a workplace. Regarding the second case, I aminterested in showing that Summertime allows processing political and localdisputes. Showing the different processes that occur in the beaches allows tounderstand the construction of social and urban order based on the use of publicspace in a given time.
