El concepto ?Sistema mineral?: ejemplo de la cuenca Cañadón Asfalto, provincia de Chubut, Argentina

For more than 100years scientific researches on mineral deposits genesis has been conducted by asingle deposit analysis. Recently, the discipline adopted the Mineral Systemapproach where a deposit is only a small part of a broader lithospheric system.The last involves the interaction of several processes at different scales.This type of analysis is increasingly used in the exploration of mineraldeposits and in the selection of targets. This work presents the Mineral Systemapproach applied in the Mesozoic Cañadón Asfalto Basin in the west-southwestportion of the Somún Curá Massif. The selected area includes the giant Ag-richpolymetallic deposit Navidad. The current geological knowledge allows toaddress the critical processes (production of fluids, transport, mixing anddeposition of metals) during the basin evolution. In this work we present thegeological evidences of these processes at different scales.
