Resumen:
Near real time VTEC estimation using La Plata Ionospheric ModelWithin the framework of the SIRGAS pilot experiment, the authors of this paperhave been producing Vertical Total Electron Content (VTEC) since July 2005.These maps exploit all the GNSS data available in the South American regionand routinely compute a regional VTEC model with a delay of ten days using LaPlata Ionospheric Model (LPIM).In 2007 a distributed multi-instrument observatory, which includes GNSSreceivers, was installed in Argentina within the framework of Low-latitudeIonospheric Sensor Network (LISN) project. These receivers can transmit rawobservations instantaneously as one of LISN aims is to monitor the ionospherein real time. This paper presents results of a near real time adapted LPIM implementation, which can produce single site VTEC estimation and predictions. Comparisonswith post processes VTEC values and other software real time VTEC estimationwere done, showing agreement with a few TEC units. Limitations regarding realtime signal processing are also discussed.
