Resumen:
In the present work SBA-15 andSBA-16 mesoporous silicas were synthetized, where synthesis variables weremodified obtaining materials with different morphologies such as: fibers, spheres, rods and irregular shape. Copper and cerium oxides active phase wasintroduced by two methods, incipient wetness impregnation and solid stateimpregnation by using a ball mill. The obtained catalysts were evaluated in theCO preferential oxidation reaction (COPrOx).By means of SEM and TEMmicroscopies and SAXS and XRD, the mesostructures and morphologies wereverified, as well as the preservation of the porous structure and the presenceof oxides nanoparticles. XPS spectroscopy was used to analyze the chemicalstate and relative surface abundance of the elements present in the catalysts. Fromthe catalytic results, it could be seen that the incipient wetness impregnationmethod was the most favorable. The unidirectional porous structure SBA-15 withfiber shape and incipient wetness impregnation, achieved the highest conversionof CO and selectivity to CO2 (CO conversion 98 % at 175 °C). Thismaterial was tested several hours in reaction showing good chemical stability. Also, the addition of 10% CO2 and 10% H2O partiallydeactivated the catalyst.
