This work introduces a new approximation of the Jones Matrix model, widelyused for the prediction of the phase modulation of Twisted Nematic Liquid Crystal Displays(TN-LCDs). Furthermore, this work presents a set of simple experiments that were carried outto reveal the optical characteristics of a Kopin microdisplay and to verify the feasibility, of aSpatial Light Modulator (SLM) prototype developed, to provide a phase modulation between0 and 2 without modifying the amplitude of light passing through the device, which is called"Phase Only - SLM".
